You have decided that you want to become a care assistant / support worker. Great! Whatever your reason for wanting to get involved in homecare and seeking the latest care vacancies, you are sure to find it enjoyable yet demanding.

The care we provide is wide ranging and we also visit individuals with complex needs. You will be involved in assisting not only with daily tasks to support an individuals life but also making referrals to Nurses and Doctors.

It would be ideal if you have done the job before but no prior experience is necessary, as we will provide training to you to meet the demands of the job.

Guardian Homecare aim to support the Primary Care system by helping individuals to manage their own health care needs and requirements and are very much focused on achieving positive outcomes for all our service users.

You are not required to have any prior experience for trainee positions as you will be given training in a wide selection of areas. However, successful completion of our training program and will help develop your skills and your career.

There are certain basic requirements that we and our service users need to make sure that you have, you:

  • Must be prepared to be flexible over working times and days
  • Must have good English - Both written and verbal skills, keep in mind, you are dealing with elderly and sensory impaired people
  • Must be organized and reliable with a pro-active attitude
  • Must hold a current valid driving license, have your own car and be able to drive
  • Must undertake an Enhanced Criminal Records Disclosure Check
  • Must undertake a ISA (Independent Safeguarding Authority) Check

Summary Job Description
  • Enable service users to remain in their own homes by providing the support and care needed to help them achieve maximum independence.
  • Work "with" service users to achieve outcomes, rather than working "for" them
  • Support and encourage service users to regain their confidence all the while promoting their self-respect and dignity
  • Provide the highest standard of care provision every day of the year, including early mornings, evenings, weekends and Bank Holidays
  • Undertake delegated healthcare tasks and ensuring service users' health conditions are monitored in accordance with their GP's or District Nurse's instructions
  • Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to ensure the best outcomes possible for our service users and ensuring referrals are made in a timely manor
  • Help promote our business and our services to the community

You will be required to complete training to the satisfaction of the company. You will also be required to achieve the relevant qualification for your role (currently NVQ2).
