Not everyone who uses our service needs a lot of support with their personal care which is why we offer a service that is available to assist those people with those tasks that they need that little bit of extra assistance with, such as:

Getting in and out of bed
Assistance with toileting
Having a wash
Getting dressed

The above list is not exhaustive, these are just some of the general tasks of the personal care help that we offer.

However not everyone who uses providers is entirely sure how to go about getting this sort of service provision so and end up asking the question..

Who can receive help with their personal grooming through personal care services??

Anyone! Can get help for this service either going through social services or by going to us direct.

Once you have chosen your path to getting your care services, you will need to inform social services or us of your personal care needs and the level of support that you or your family member require with personal care.

You will then need to inform social services or us of the frequency of the visits and how long you will require assistance for, e.g. 30 mins, 45 mins, 1 hour or 1 hour+

When this has been agreed, a member of staff will then visit at the agreed times and will assist you or your family with the agreed assistance that is required. Our services are flexible and if you require more help on one day than you do another because you are going out for example then all you have to do is tell us at the beginning of the package or if your personal plans change during the delivery of service then just let us know as soon as you can and we will endeavor to adjust the service accordingly as soon as we can to meet your personal care routines.

The homecare assistant that will come and visit you will be able to assist you with the tasks mentioned above and also the following personal grooming tasks:

• Showering
• Bathing
• Hair washing
• Shaving
• Application of creams (E45 etc.)
• Fingernail trimming (Unfortunately we are NOT allowed to trim toe nails, this can ONLY be done by a podiatrist.)

When you are ready for personal care assistance our homecare assistant will then help you get dressed, supporting you as much as you need, that is, if you only need help putting socks on because you have difficulty getting down there then they will help you with that.

They will assist you as much or as little as you need, all you have to do is ask and they will be more than happy to help. All our homecare assistants are required to write up a report of the activities of the visit and this helps us monitor how the service is being delivered to you and if more tasks are being required consistently then it enables us to review and adjust your care plan on an on-going basis.

This means our personal care services changes in line with your needs consistently and helps minimize disruption to the services being delivered in the long term.
